For This Ancient, Giving to Porter’s Is an Investment in the Next Generation

Chrissy Cox ’93

Chrissy Cox ’93 has always had a passionate heart for Miss Porter’s School, being a faithful Annual Fund donor for years. But it wasn’t until she joined the Alumnae Board and began meeting Ancients of all ages that she realized she wanted to make a bigger impact.

“It was particularly the youngest Ancients that were really exciting to me. It was uplifting to see their energy and their drive for change and for positive impact on the world,” Chrissy commented.

From her perspective, Porter’s uniquely positions young women to gain the confidence and voice that women usually acquire much later in their lives: “I feel like the School is speeding up that process in a really positive way—women feeling like they have a voice and that they know how to use it effectively.” This triggered Chrissy's decision to join the Moonbeams Circle and include Porter’s as a beneficiary in her will—“the world needs as many Ancients as it can get!”

Chrissy’s recent tenure on the Board of Trustees further validated her decision because she gained insight into the School's inner workings. She recognized that the School was “doing the right things fiscally, moving with the times, and keeping up with everything that's going on in the world of education,” including the impact of artificial intelligence on education.

For Chrissy, a planned gift is an expression of her passion for intergenerational connection and empowerment. “To do my little part to help the School continue past my time seemed logical to me.”
