On behalf of Miss Porter’s School, I want to express my sincere concern for you and your families. In this time when connecting takes on greater importance, know that our school has found new and dynamic ways to help us strengthen our connections. Ancients can follow Miss Porter’s on various social media channels where you see in real time examples of how School continues to prepare girls to shape a changing world. Ancients can connect through the Graduway app by going to www.porters.org/ancients. Everyone can send notes of encouragement and care to the students and faculty at FarmingtonsOurHome@missporters.org.
Within its immediate community the School has donated N95 masks to first responders, donated their food stores to the food pantry, and has not laid off or furloughed any full or part time personnel—whether they can perform their duties from home or not.
It is fulfilling its core mission of caring for and continuing to educate the girls. One of our teachers posted to her colleagues: “Today I was lucky to be able to pop in and out of various virtual math classes, and I was in awe of what I saw ... each lesson that I saw was presented with clarity, confidence, and calm, and I was bowled over by all of the different techniques of teaching and technology that I had the privilege to witness.”
School leadership has made lots of tough decisions in recent months, but they are all driven by their focus to do what is right for the girls.
Our bonds as a Farmington family are being tested; but as we link arms when together, so, too, we do now in a virtual fashion to support one another and those places dear to us. Farmington is our home!
Stay safe and well,
